Thorpe Park Stinks

August 19th, 2009 admin No comments

I just heard on the radio an interesting story regarding the UK theme park, Thorpe

?Park.

Staff at the UK’s 3rd most popular amusement/theme park have finally had enough of customers BO (body odour).

The park has put up signs stating “no to BO” and reports suggest that staff have been given permission to refuse rides to smelly customers if they insist on raising their arms! If they continue, they could be removed from the park.

Mike Vallis, a director at the attraction, told the Daily Telegraph: “We’ve found that when the temperature tops 25C the level of unpleasant smells can become unacceptable and we do receive complaints.

?

“Our rides are really scary and people tend to sweat more than normal due to the fear and anticipation they experience while queuing up so it can get really pongy. Therefore, we felt a ban in temperatures of 25C plus would be the best way to ensure our guests have the most enjoyable experience and aren’t exposed to any unsavoury armpits.”

What do you think about Thorpe Parks stand on BO, are they right to ask smelly people not to raise their arms?

8 ways to survive a Theme Park

August 13th, 2009 admin No comments

Compare Attraction Tickets.com has put together are very own top 10 tips for surviving the white knuckle ride that

Compare Attraction Tickets

Compare Attraction Tickets

are theme parks.

1) Be realistic – For some of the bigger parks (busch gardens, Alton towers, magic kindom etc) its almost impossible to see the whole park in one day, specially with kids in tow and the amount of queuing involved, set a pace that suits all of your party, maybe even consider coming back for a second day to explore everything.

2) Back to front – Start at the back of the park and work your way to the front. Most people start at the front of the park and work backwards, so in theory you should miss out on some of the larger queues.

3) The early bird – Get to the parks early, I know it sounds obvious but truely the queues are shorter at the beginning of the day and towards the end.

BGT_Sheikra_Floorlesslesstrack4) Autumn – Visit some of the major parks in Autumn. Spring and summer are the busiest times for all theme parks, there is also a lot cooler climate, specailly in Florida.

5) Eat early – In my experience 12-2pm the restraunts are packed, which must mean the queues are shorter. Eat early so you avoid the restraunt queues and spend more time when others are eating exploring the attractions.

6) Another time saving and cost cutting exercise is to have a picinic, at LEGOLAND I sent ?40.00 on feeding 2 kids and 2 adults!

7) Split up – It doesn’t have to be all day, but why not try splitting up to cover more of the things your party wants to do. For example, I took my eldest boys off to do the thrill rides while my wife took our youngest off to look at the animals at busch gardens.

8) Consider investing in queue reducing packages, it might add further cash to your budget but it could mean the difference between a 15 min queue and a 2 hours queue!

Thanks to Steve Jones for adding some great ideas to this post.

Have we missed something? Please let us know.
